Okay, first blog ever. Kind of excited - kind of wondering who would care what I think... But the main reason I've started this blog is because I wanted to share the theme song I wrote for this year's Young Musician's Camp here in South Carolina.
We've had an awesome start to camp this year. The kids are energized and the chaperones and leaders are smiling because the main goal on their hearts is to share the joy and love of God with these kids. Yahoo!! This camp is chock full of cool things for the kids to experience and do: music activities such as learning to play instruments and creating art, being part of a large choir, swimming, canoeing, lake fun, special features, and great times of worshiping God together.
What I get excited about most is seeing the kids throw themselves into singing about and to Jesus. No pre-conceived notions about worship. No worries about what the person next to them might think if they sing too loud or raise their hands too high. No hindrances to being silly every once in a while, or even slowing down to stop and think about what's been said or sung. They're children. The folks Jesus told us to have faith like. (I know, grammar's not exactly right, but you know what I mean)
I've written a few songs, but this is my first time writing a "camp" song. And I just heard a camper walk by my window singing it - yeah, buddy!!
Here's a link to the camp theme song, "Heart, Hands, Voice!"
